May 2014 Update

Lots of news to go around today…

Well, I’ll be honest with you, there is going to be a lot of updates today that may be good news or bad news depending on who you are. So, I guess the best thing to do is to just get right into it.

BUT actually, before that, I do feel like I need to apologize for the lackadaisical effort to get a post out recently (lackadaisical effort at best). I am a professional and consistent blogger, and that comes with responsibilities. I dont care that I dont have the same numbers as some of the others out there, but if even one person is waiting for my next post to come out (and even that might be a stretch), then I need to keep to my promise of at least 1 post per week. I dont have any excuse. That said though, let’s get on with it.

Here are the big updates since the last one (which was really quite bad due to the circumstances).

  • My web development work has started to really take off lately. This does end up cutting into my travel AND blogging time, but besides the recent lapse I still intend to remain consistent to at least 1 post per week (The recent lapse was mostly due to laziness, Ill admit). I love blogging, sharing, and hopefully helping others with travel. Ultimately this is good news for me, and will hopefully allow me to work and travel more full time which will also lead to more posts with better insight. And if you need a developer or know someone who does, let me know (shameless plug. haha).
  • If you haven’t yet noticed, even with the higher work load, I have found some time for a site redesign. I love improving the site for users, and if Im honest I knew it wasnt quite up to par before. I have improved the navigation, re-added my original logo, created some more stylish and better optimized images for the banner (really dying to hear the feedback on this one), added some background color, and made a couple more stylistic changes. It may not seem like a lot, but I think it adds to the overall design and usability. There are still a couple small changes I have planned, but for now I think it’s good. (I did have to toss the randomized header images for better coding. There is only one image now, but I think I will add customized images for each different page).
  • I know it might not be obvious based on the recent posts, but IM IN THE PHILIPPINES right now. It’s really a great country that I cant wait to share my reviews and travel tips for. Trust me, you wont want to miss these. They will be very useful if you ever make it out here…and you should.
  • Finally, THIS trip is coming to a close. I will not disclose the date publicly because there are some people that I want to surprise when I get home, but I am flying home sooner than I like and it is a bittersweet feeling and I have to go (my best friend is getting married and I am in the wedding party…what a selfish jerk. JK). However, I still have TONS of notes, tips, and pics from places that I havent even mentioned yet that I am dying to share (if I could quit being such a lazy bum), so dont worry. There is still so much left in the works. I doubt I will even get close to posting it all before the next journey starts.

Anyway, that’s all I wanted to share for now. I want to thank you all for your interest and support, and I hope to really improve everything about this blog for you guys to get the most out of it. I hope you can see that as much as I enjoy living it, I REALLY want to write this to help others live it to. Oh, and if you ever have any comments on what you would like to see more of, what I should write less of, or any other notes on how I can improve please let me know. I want this to be more for my readers than it is for me.
