Travel Song: Notorious B.I.G. – Going back to Cali

In lieu of my (unfortunately) imminent return home I decided to post my favorite song for the occasion. I play it EVERY time I am homeward bound, and I love it every time. There just isnt anything else that hits like it. I know it wont apply to everyone, but for those of you that it does, you know exactly what I am talking about: “Going back to Cali” by Notorious B.I.G.

Artist: Notorious B.I.G.
Song: “Going back to Cali”
Album: Life After Death
Best lyrics: “I’m going going back back to Cali Cali.”
Appropriate for: Any trip to the sunshine state, but especially if you are lucky enough to call it home.

As I said before, it’s not going to be appropriate for most people, but I still love to hear it on my way home. The song came out as a result of the rap wars going on at the time between East and West coast but seeing as Im not a huge rap star from the 90’s I really dont get too heated on the debate. I DO however take advantage of the results.

I just love to listen to the awesome beat and rough lyrics and I cant help but nod my head along with it (sometimes I even pretend Im a big rap star and get all crazy… but only when no one is looking). Rgardless whether you have been there or not, this is a great song for any California trip…actually, no. It’s the BEST song and no Cali trip would be the same without it.

So good is this song, it has even appeared in an episode of South Park (Season 10; Episode 11: Hell on Earth) which I have conveniently linked to 🙂 I’ll let Butters handle it from here.

So whats your favorite homeward-bound song and me know what you think of mine? Let me know in the comments.
